An Ode to Black Girls
well east Asian girls are real fine
they'll talk and act real nice
and those white girls are so divine
they've got beauty, flair, and style
blonde hair, blue eyes, and
a loving smile
Latinas cast a magic spell on me
got me crazy, heart's beating
like a drum
I've got eyes for little senoritas
and the way they talk
but black girls got them all beat
I've looked near and far, gave my
heart to all the world
chased both blondes and brunettes,
and everything in between
picked me lotus blossoms and
Spanish flowers
dreamed of golden-haired dames in
the midnight hour
but black girls got them all beat
I wish they were all like black girls
with hearts warm as the sun
and just being around them's so
much fun
I've met my share of black girls
some were beautiful, and most
were kind
they didn't judge me by the
color of skin
they looked deep down within
all my life, they've been at my side
black girls have quelled my fears, and
black girls have wiped away my tears
I cherish their panache, and hearts
warm as the sun
Just being around them's so much fun
I've looked near and far, gave my heart
to the four corners of the earth
chased both blondes and brunettes, and
everything in between
picked me lotus blossoms and
Spanish flowers
dreamed of golden-haired dames in
the midnight hour
but black girls have got them all beat
black girls have quelled my fears, and
black girls have wiped away my tears
I cherish their panache, and hearts
warm as the sun
just being around them's so much fun

I've never actually fallen in love with a black girl before, but I've always had them as female friends. I've had my heart broken many times before, but never by a black girl. I've had mostly positive experiences with them, and most were quite kind to me. I wrote this poem when I was thinking about how I've always been able to make friends with black girls, and how at times they were the only kind of girls that were willing to talk to me. The ones I befriended were quite nice, and seemed to understand me better than a lot of other people did. I wrote this poem as a shout out to all the black girls who gave me friendship and kindness, and because I think that they're often underrated compared to other girls. I really wish that all the girls I loved had been as nice as the black girls I became friends with. It just goes to show that friendship is a really powerful thing, sometimes stronger than love.
